Looking for virtual/remote UIL academic practice? We have been running our virtual tournament (3 online contest rounds) for 26 years. Over 250 schools participate annually, including the top schools in the state! We also build study applications for iOS, Android, and Chromebooks.

The Best of Texas Advantage

Sponsors receive tests online, make copies, administer the secure tests locally, and submit scores on our grading site. We handle the tabulation, comparison lists, and awards. Awards are sent based on cumulative totals, with plaques and certificates for individuals, teams, and grade levels.

Learn about how our UIL practice tournaments are run, options for ordering tests, and setting up study apps for your students.

Sponsor teachers receive secure test packages online during each of the three round periods. You print the materials, administer the tests locally, and then enter your students' scores on our portal. We automatically compile classification summaries, individual standings, and ship plaques and certificates at the end of the tournament.
We offer practice tournaments for 12 core UIL academic subjects: Accounting, Calculator Applications, Computer Science, Mathematics, Number Sense, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Copy Editing, Literary Criticism, Social Studies, and Spelling & Vocabulary.
No, our study applications are separate purchases from the remote tournaments. Apps can be downloaded individually on iOS and Android app stores, or school-wide Chromebook license packages can be ordered directly using our preorder order sheets.
We offer annual school-year multi-user licenses. Team packs include 7 logins (High School subjects) or 5 logins (A+ Elementary/Junior High subjects), permitting students to access web apps from school-issued Chromebooks. For customization and setups, feel free to contact Samantha Markham.
Yes, Best of Texas Contest is the sole source provider of these specific academic study applications and tournament test books. If your district purchasing office requires a sole source affidavit or W-9 form to process purchase orders, contact Peggy Markham and we will provide the paperwork immediately.
Our 3 tournament rounds run from November through February. Each testing window lasts exactly four weeks, allowing sponsors to administer tests when convenient. Scores are due online shortly after the window closes (December 10 for Round 1, February 11 for Round 2, and March 18 for Round 3).
